Dewsbury Urban Garden - Saba Rifat
Dewsbury Urban Garden is a bold installation is made up of modular shapes layered with colour, pattern and sound, imagined by the vibrant hues and sounds of a summer floral garden.
This vibrant artwork is inspired by the local wildflower garden at Crow Nest Park and has close reference to geometric forms and colours drawn from nature, science and traditional patterns.
An immersive soundscape, created by Manasamitra, can be listened to whilst experiencing the artwork which can be streamed from SoundCloud via the QR codes positioned around the installation.
The Artist aims to welcome and encourage public sensory imagination, of experiencing a ‘summer garden feeling’ in this urban setting, through curiosity, engagement and pause with the abstract shapes, colours and sounds.
‘I see geometric patterns as a universal language as they lend to a multitude of possibilities to express emotions, ideas and playfulness through their arrangements of symmetry, repetition, and tessellation.’ Saba Rifat
